The Last Photoshoot (in my old studio)

Everything that has a beginning has an end. Or so they say.

And in fact, this shoot with Cacau & Baunilha’s awesome cakes was the last one I did in my old studio, in Guimarães, Portugal.

Not everything is bad, though. This was a much needed change that will hopefully give way to other things. Also, I’m very proud of the images we achieved (and the cakes were delicious!)

I obviously wanted the images to work for Eduarda (the owner of Cacau & Baunilha), but I really wanted them to look like me too, so I brought the hard lights and the colored backgrounds and the closeups…and luckily, everyone loved the outcome!

Of course, me being me, I dropped a bunch of slices on the floor!

This actually happened.

I dropped a bunch of stuff on the floor, including cake. I have this weird tendency to trip on everything and to drop stuff all over and I should never be left unattended.

So after apologizing a million times and putting my hands on my head, I realized the set actually looked interesting! So I did an image of the slices exactly as they stood after falling — no further styling. Sometimes bad things do happen for a reason.

But believe it or not, some cakes actually survived my madness, meaning we could shoot them properly. Take a look below.

After all that mess, we photographed my favorite of the day: the chocolate cake!

Just look at it, you can almost taste the deliciousness.

Getting up close and personal

One of my favorite shots of the day, for sure.

This cake got damaged in transit and wasn't looking as great

This guy had a little accident in transit and got damaged. We tried our best to hide it, but ultimately it wasn’t looking as pretty as the other ones.

At least this time it wasn’t me dropping it on the floor, so there’s that.

There were more images done, but I’m still not sure if I’m ever going to use them.
What do you think?

The End

At the end, I got to take some of the cakes home.

And as you know, by law, cakes must wear a seat belt at all times.
Safety first!
